Family SOS provides a number of programs and services directed toward strengthening families. From Family Intervention, Positive Parenting Programs for Mom and Dads, Reunification & Aftercare and Teens’ Talk, staff make every attempt to keep the family and their needs at the centre of the work. From April 1st, 2006- March 31st 2007, 454 families were served by the agency.
The Healthy Kidz™ Programs operate as after-school and summer day camp programs for children and youth based in the Greystone and Mulgrave Park communities.
Here are some stats:
- The average number of families actively working with Family Intervention Workers at any given time: 57
- Approx 30 moms and dads go through the Positive Parenting Program/year.
- In 2006, approx 40 students in the HRM participated in the Teen’s Talk Program.
- Healthy Kidz™ provides after-school and summer day camp opportunities for approximately 200 children, youth and their families/year.
