Family SOS is a non profit social service agency.

History

Established in 1978 in the Halifax Dartmouth area because of concerns over child abuse and child neglect; the original guiding philosophy of the agency was based on the belief that If parents are supported during stressful periods in their lives the incidence of child abuse and neglect can be reduced.

We recognize that all families can experience times of stress and perhaps even times of crisis. By starting with the family at the centre, we develop intervention or supports that help kids thrive by building stronger families. We do this by providing in home family intervention, support services and parent education. These programs help families keep their children safe and in their own homes.

We are located in Halifax at 7071 Bayers Road, Suite 337 ( Bayers Road Shopping Center ) and provide services free of charge for families who live within Halifax, Dartmouth and Bedford Areas.  Families may self refer or be referred by another agency. We ensure the strictest of confidentiality and only work with families voluntarily.
