Healthy Kidz Programs
Promoting the health and well-being of children and their families
We serve underpriveledged and marginalized communities, where the self-esteem of children and youth may have been negatively affected by family violence, instability, poverty, addictions, abuse or neglect.
We promote health and well-being through activities such as creative play, life skills development, education, counselling, and mentoring.
We are a community based program which collaborates with the community, fosters partnerships and hires staff/volunteers from within the community.
Healthy Kidz™ Vision
Healthy Kidz™ incorporates recreation, after school tutoring and arts into our intervention work with children and youth ages 6 - 17. We believe that by combining traditional intervention and non-traditional techniques, it is possible to successfully engage and interest the children and youth we serve in a less threatening and stigmatizing manner.
Programming
Our programming focuses on the enhancement of self-esteem, confidence, social skill development and problem solving. Healthy Kidz™ focuses on the building of social, leadership, and independent living skills.
Programming is developed in collaboration with the community through the Healthy Kidz™ Parent Advisory Committee, a group of interested community members who meet regularly.

Healthy Kidz™ GreystoneThis program operates in the Greystone community in Spryfield, serving children between the ages of 6 and 12.Programs include: Healthy Kidz™ Klub after-school program; Junior Leader Program (Ages 12+); Parent Advisory Committee, and Healthy Kidz™ Summer Program. Our Greystone program is directly located in a local public housing development. This social promotion program contributes to a sense of security and well being for over 100 children and youth each year. Our Greystone location currently has an active Parent Social Group, which provides opportunities for parents to socialize and to offer each other support in an informal atmosphere. Greystone also has an on-site donation room, where furniture, household items, and other dontated items are made available on an as needed basis. |

Healthy Teenz (Kidz™) GottingenThe success of the Healthy Kidz™ Greystone program inspired the creation of another Healthy Kidz™ location on Gottingen Street at the Community YMCA. This program was started in the fall of 2009 and has since become an important part of the community. Nicknamed "Healthy Teenz", this afterschool program offers free activities to youth between the ages of 13 and 17, Monday through Friday. This program promotes self-esteem, healthy relationships, and pro-social choices in children & adolescents. |
