Volunteer With Us
At Family SOS, our volunteers play an essential role in our success. From guest speaking engagements, to fund development, and general maintenance - our volunteers are involved in a variety of ways within our organization, and we cannot thank them enough.
What do we look for in a volunteer? We look for persons with diverse skills, interests and backgrounds! We are flexible with hours and commitment, and would love to discuss any unique ideas you may have!

Weekly and Monthly Volunteer Opportunities
Guest Speaker or Guest Program Lead - Visit our program as a Guest Speaker or Program Lead on an interesting topic to our children, youth or parenting programs. In the past, we have experienced fitness classes, science experiments, anti-bullying presentations, and gardening workshops. Working in conjunction with our Programming staff at our various locations, we have also offered classes on various topics, including resume writing, tax preparation, and goal setting.
Meal Preparation Volunteer - Assist us with our planned Cooking and Baking Day's with the Healthy Kidz or Healthy Teenz, or teach a cooking lesson for our Moms & Dads!
Meals and Baking - Prepare meals or baked goods at home and donate for use in specific meals. It is always best for us to plan for these items, so call ahead at 902-455-5515 wherever possible!
Donation Room Organizer - Our very busy Greystone Donation Room can always use some organization. All items in the room have been donated to Family SOS and are available to the community completely free of charge! Located in our Greystone Program Space (at 4 Cranberry Court) this room is open to the public. Volunteers are needed to organize donations, and help us make the room as inviting as possible. Open Mon-Fri at 2:00-5:00pm.
Cleaning - Once a month, we take on deep cleaning projects in our program spaces, such as kitchen cleanings or washing the walls. This can be a great group project as part of Spring Cleaning initiatives or anytime throughout the year.
Group Maintenance Projects (All locations) - Gardening, painting, cleaning, etc. This can involve large numbers of volunteers and be a great team building exercise.
Fundraising Volunteers - Family SOS hosts a variety of fundraising events, such as the Courage to Give Back Awards and the Cleats for Courage Coed Softball Tournament. We are also recipients of many Third Party Fundraising projects. If you would like to plan a corporate or group event, or join an event planning committee, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
